Students organized against legislation allowing concealed permit holders to carry guns on campus for self-defense will be carrying at least 200 dildos in protest on December 15.

The protesters are taking their cues from a “Cocks not Glocks” protest that unsuccessfully opposed campus carry in Texas.

The Daily Cardinal reports that the protests are being spearheaded by Kat Kerwin, the “UW-Madison College of Letters & Science representative on [the Associated Students of Madison’s] Student Council and vice chair of ASM’s Legislative Affairs Committee.” Madison’s The Cap Times spoke with Kerwin and she suggested passing out dildos is “a method of fighting the absurdity of guns in classrooms.” She added, “We actually have 200 sex toys on their way right now” and “we’re going to be breaking those out as soon as the bill gets introduced.”

Kerwin said nothing about the absurdity of current gun-free mandates which force law-abiding citizens to sit unarmed in classrooms, where attackers like those at Virginia Tech (April 16, 2007), Umpqua Community College (October 1, 2015), and UCLA (June 1, 2016) walk in and carry out their bloody plans without fear. Nor did she mention that the faculty and staff in Sandy Hook Elementary were unarmed–because in a gun-free zone–when the horrendous attack against that school was carried out on December 14, 2012.

State representative Jesse Kremer (R-Kewaskum) is going to reintroduce the campus carry legislation he pushed in 2015. He and state senator Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg) pushed the legislation following the October 1, 2015, attack that killed nine people at Umpqua Community College. That attack also occurred in a gun-free zone, and Kremer believes allowing concealed permit holders to retain their guns on campus may help prevent an Umpqua-style attack in Wisconsin.
