CDC Director Brenda Fitzgerald Resigns over Financial Conflicts

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald resigned Wednesday over financial conflicts of interest.

Politico reported Tuesday that Dr. Fitzgerald bought shares in tobacco as well as drug and food companies one month into the job.

The resignation came when Alex Azar became the new secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). Tom Price resigned as HHS secretary after a series of reporters revealed expensive private flights billed to taxpayers.
