West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey declared in an ad exclusively obtained by Breitbart News, “Let’s take on Washington with our West Virginia conservative values.”
“We fought Obama’s war on our jobs and culture,” Morrisey declares in the ad.
The voiceover charges, “Patrick Morrisey beat Obama at the Supreme Court, saving coal jobs, [and] blocked Obama’s illegal amnesty.”
Morrisey continues, “Let’s take on Washington with our West Virginia conservative values. Let’s not just change Washington; let’s blow it up and reinvent it.” The ad then proceeds to show a mountain replacing the Capitol Building in Washington, DC:
“That’s better,” Morrisey states in the ad.
The West Virginia attorney general concludes, “We’ll take on the Washington liberals, keep their hands off our guns, stop their pro-abortion agenda. I am the conservative fighter who’ll win for West Virginia.”
Morrisey spokesman Nachama Soloveichik said in a press release on Wednesday:
West Virginians don’t have to guess what Patrick Morrisey would look like as a U.S. Senator because Morrisey has a proven track record of taking on Washington, suing President Obama, and defending conservative values every day. This ad highlights Attorney General Morrisey’s record as a conservative fighter and someone who will never back down in defense of coal, life, rule of law, and the Second Amendment.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker endorsed Morrisey for the U.S. Senate race in February.
“Attorney General Morrisey’s strong, conservative record is exactly what West Virginia needs in its next senator,” Gov. Walker declared in a statement. “Patrick has fought for West Virginians while defending the rule of law, and he is ready to keep fighting for them as a champion of conservative reform in Washington, D.C.”
Breitbart News revealed in an exclusive report last month that Congressman Evan Jenkins (R-WV), Morrisey’s primary opponent, originally denied and then admitted to sending a letter urging lawmakers to support protection of an Obama-era Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) trucking regulation.
Morrisey called Jenkins a “fake-Republican” in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News, saying:
After 20 years as a liberal Democrat, it’s clear Evan Jenkins has not abandoned his Democratic past. Jenkins was now caught lying about his support for a regulation issued by President Obama’s EPA at the urging of a lobbyist of a foreign company. How can West Virginians trust Evan Jenkins to stand up for their conservative values when he’s fighting the Trump administration and fighting to keep Obama’s EPA regulations? West Virginia deserves better than a fake-Republican.
A Super PAC that supports Morrisey announced in January that it has raised $700,000 to bolster Morrisey’s chances of defeating Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) in the 2018 midterm election.
The Citizens United Political Victory Fund (CUPVF) backed Morrisey last September. Citizens United President David Bossie charged, “Attorney General Morrisey is a conservative stalwart who will come to the U.S. Senate to fight for the interests of West Virginia, not the Washington establishment.”
