A carjacking suspect allegedly pointed a rifle at an armed citizen in Pike National Forest and got shot multiple times.

Fox News reports that the suspect allegedly stole a vehicle then shot at passing cars as he drove into the national forest area.

The suspect exited the vehicle upon reaching Devil’s Head Campground and allegedly pointed a rifle at an armed camper. The camper responded by opening fire, striking the suspect multiple times.

Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene and the suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive and will face charges out of Douglas County and will also have charges out of El Paso County.

The Devil’s Head Campground and sites to the south are closed for 48 hours while officials process the crime scene.
