An illegal alien is facing charges for allegedly raping and sexually extorting a child in Alabama.

Authorities arrested illegal alien Francisco Javier Martinez, 26, and charged him with first-degree rape and sexual extortion, but the sheriff could not divulge any additional information due to the nature of the crimes, the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.

Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry told AL.com investigators had been looking into Martinez for several weeks, leading to a search warrant August 13 at the suspect’s home.

Local law enforcement officials say they have been working with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency to allow ICE agents to detain Martinez once the charges against him are settled or if he posts bond.

Martinez is being held in jail on a $35,000 bond.

Alabama has dealt with other instances of illegal alien crime over the past few months. Another illegal alien in neighboring Tuscaloosa County was arrested in March for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor and was charged with first-degree rape in that case.
