Columnist Who Compared NRA to KKK Will Create 'Black Grantland' Site at ESPN

Jason Whitlock, the columnist who compared the NRA to the KKK, will be going to ESPN to create what he has said would be a black version of Grantland, the site ESPN personality Bill Simmons started.

“For lack of a better description, I hope this isn’t offensive — but I’m going to get to do something along the lines of a black Grantland,” Whitlock said on Simmons’s “B.S. Report” podcast on Thursday.

Whitlock’s column advocating gun control after the tragic murder-suicide of Kansas City football player Jovan Belcher prompted Bob Costas to go on his anti-Second Amendment rant on Sunday Night Football days after his death. Costas read from Whitlock’s column on the air.

Regardless, ESPN will reportedly hire Whitlock, who wrote for Fox Sports, as Fox Sports 1 debuts on Saturday to challenge ESPN.
