Former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner was charged with attempted murder Sunday, after police in Los Angeles launched an investigation into the assault of a woman during a home invasion.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged Browner for four felonies and two misdemeanors. He is set to appear in court on July 17, according to NFL.com.
The La Verne, California, Police Dept. was called to investigate the break-in and assault on July 8 and were told by the victim that a man she identified as the two-time Super Bowl winner had broken into the house through a locked window and assaulted her when he found her in the home.
The woman, with whom the player had a previous relationship, said that Browner made repeated threats and then made off with a $20,000 Rolex and other property.
Police picked Browner up a few hours after the victim reported the crime.
The former player was charged with robbery, burglary, false imprisonment and two counts of child endangerment.
Browner played six seasons with the NFL and five with the Canadian Football League, retiring from the NFL in 2016 after a few months as a Seattle Seahawks practice squad member. During his NFL career he played in Super Bowls 48 and 49.
