DHS: Two NY MS-13 Stabbing Suspects Exploited Unaccompanied Minor Loophole to Enter U.S.

Two of the three suspects in the MS-13 gang-related assault of a Long Island teenager exploited the unaccompanied minor loophole after crossing the border illegally in South Texas, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official told Breitbart News. The two unaccompanied minors were transported to the New York area where they later allegedly carried out a vicious attack on a group of Huntington High School teens.

As the humanitarian crisis continues along the U.S-Mexico Border, officials with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) say that 22,000 minors “illegally crossed the border” in December. Nearly 25 percent of those were unaccompanied.

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended nearly 200 Central American migrants in a single day after they illegally crossed the border from Mexico. The three groups of migrants consisted of large groups of family units and unaccompanied minors.

Groups of 100 Central American Migrants Apprehended at Texas Border

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended two large groups of Central American migrants who illegally crossed the border. The groups, consisting of nearly 100 family units and unaccompanied minors, surrendered to Border Patrol agents after they illegally entered the U.S. from Mexico in two separate incidents.

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended 450 migrants, mostly from Central America, who illegally crossed the border on Tuesday and Wednesday. The migrants exploited weaknesses in older technology to cross over and burrow under the existing barrier.

Border Patrol Agents Arrest MS-13 Member in Smuggling Attempt

Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias Checkpoint foiled a human smuggling attempt and discovered a member of the hyperviolent MS-13 gang. The smuggler’s cargo included eight illegal immigrants concealed in a pickup truck.

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrested 110 migrants in less than two days. The apprehensions occurred along the border and in stash houses. The Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector continues to lead the nation with nearly half of all arrests of illegal immigrants alone.

The number of unaccompanied minors arrested after illegally crossing the border between ports of entry fell in July by 23 percent. The decrease follows enhanced enforcement actions by the Trump Administration and the implementation of a “zero tolerance” policy.

Border Patrol Finds 8-Year-Old Boy Abandoned by Smugglers in Texas

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector identified an unaccompanied minor who was apparently abandoned by family or human smugglers near the border. Officials were initially unable to identify the young boy who is unable to communicate because he only speaks a dialect they were unable to translate.
