2 quarantined in N.J. with possible Ebola symptoms

NEWARK, N.J., Oct. 4 (UPI) —

Two people on board a United Airlines flight from Brussels were quarantined in New Jersey on Saturday after one person exhibited symptoms of the Ebola virus, police said.

Officials with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control met Flight 998 as it arrived at Newark Airport.

"The crew reported that a person was vomiting, and that Liberians were aboard the plane," a member of law enforcement told the New York Post. "The person throwing up is believed to be Liberian."

The nearly 300 passengers on board the Boeing 777-200 were held at the terminal for more than an hour before a man and his daughter were taken to quarantine at University Hospital in Newark. The remaining passengers were cleared to go through customs.

The only Ebola symptom the man exhibited was vomiting, an official with knowledge of the incident told ABC News.

"He’s now being treated with protocols as if he has it, but no clear indication at this point that he does," the official said.
