Vegas Woman Accused of Killing Man by Pushing Him Off a Bus is Freed on Bond

Las Vegas residents were outraged on Thursday when a woman accused of killing an elderly man by viciously pushing him off a bus was freed on bond.

Cadesha Bishop was arraigned Friday and was released after posting a $100,000 bond. The 25-year-old suspect was released on a high-level electronic monitoring device and will next appear in court on May 23.

Bishop was arrested after a video appeared to show her pushing an elderly man out of the door of a city bus causing him to fall to the pavement, smashing his head and hip in the fall. The man, Serge Fournier, 74, later died from the injuries at a hospital.

The Las Vegas coroner determined that Fournier died from “complications of blunt force torso injuries” and ruled his death a homicide.

Witnesses said Bishop was observed “yelling and cursing” at passengers and attacked the victim when he told her to be nice.

But many residents of the city were outraged over the suspect’s release, according to WFLA.

“I think the bail was set too low. I base it on the violent nature of this offense. This was an unprovoked, unnecessary attack on a senior citizen with a walker,” District Attorney Steve Wolfson said.

Trevor Taylor, a friend of the victim, was also unhappy with the release. “Watching it was horrible for me to see. He was a good friend of mine,” Taylor said. “Under the circumstances of such a violent act, I would prefer she would be in jail.”

Bishop has a criminal record having been convicted of domestic violence in 2012 and 2013. She has been charged with murder in this latest case.
