Broadway Producer Ben Sprecher was arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of child pornography, according to multiple reports.

The man behind the recently failed musical Rebecca, was arrested at his Morningside Heights home at 6AM, according to the New York Post.

The 65-year-old producer was snared by a joint investigation by Homeland Security Investigations and the New York Police Department.

Sprecher’s most recent Broadway debacle was marred with accusations of fraud, embezzlement, and claims of defamation. And one of the show’s financiers, Mark Hotton, was eventually convicted of defrauding Sprecher out of $60,000. Hotton was sentenced to almost three years in prison.

Sprecher and co-producer Louise Forlenza also sued publicist Marc Thibodeau for ten million dollars, accusing him of defamation for using the Hotton incident to scare other investors away. A jury awarded the pair $90,000 but threw out the defamation claim.

Sprecher has produced several other Broadway shows including The Exorcist, The Shape of Things, American Buffalo, and The Odd Couple.
