Released after twelve years in prison, a serial rapist has been sentenced to just three and a half years for his latest crime, because he struck in liberal Sweden rather than his native Romania.
The 35-year-old man travelled to Sweden to work as a professional beggar after his long sentence for rape in Romania was completed in January 2014. But now the man of no fixed address has been prosecuted for rape again, having brutally attacked a lone woman on her way home from a nightclub.
Yet thanks to Sweden’s shorter sentencing guidelines, rapist Neculai Lupu will be free again in just three and a half years. Court documents seen by Breitbart London show in addition to rape is Romania, he had also been found guilty of “very serious crimes”, including robbery.

The court heard how a pedestrian in Gothenburg in October 2014 was surprised to see a woman, visibly in a state of shock, muddy, and missing some of her clothes, emerge from a hedge and ask for help.
Making her way home from a night out with friends at a Gothenburg nightclub, the victim had taken the tram back to her apartment, but as other passengers slowly got off a man who had been sitting nearby moved to a seat across from her and started taking pictures of her face and legs with his mobile phone.
Rising to get off the tram at her stop, Mr. Lupu confronted the woman, preventing her from getting off the carriage, and consequently forcing her to walk further back to her apartment. Following the woman off the tram at the next stop, Mr. Lupu grabbed the woman from behind, started forcing kisses on her, and dragged her into a bush.
Strangling the woman, Mr. Lupu tore off the woman’s tights and raped her “orally and vaginally”. Before leaving her, he tipped out the contents of her handbag and helped himself to two mobile phones, according to court documents.
The convicted rapist denied he had forced himself on the woman, and that she had in fact kissed him first, voluntarily performed oral sex on him, and that the act had been consensual.
Having denied the assault until DNA evidence proved his involvement, Mr. Lupu claimed he had initially lied because he didn’t want his wife, a homeless Big Issue seller, to know he’d had sexual activity with another woman.
Once he has completed his latest prison sentence, Mr. Lupu will be deported by the Swedish government. Under Swedish law the expulsion won’t be permanent though, and he will be allowed to return to the country by 2026.
