Cruz: Sessions Could Be ‘Extraordinary’ Part of Presidential Cabinet

In an interview with Cliff Sims, editor of Yellowhammer News, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, was asked about the possibility of having Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) as his attorney general, should Cruz be elected president.

According to Cruz, Sessions could serve in “a number” of cabinet positions, not just at the head of the Justice Department. It would be a matter of deciding which post according to the junior Texas U.S. senator.

“I think Jeff Sessions would extraordinary, to be honest, in a number of positions in the cabinet,” Cruz said. “I think it would be a difficult choice which would be the ideal place for him. I can tell you, in my time in the Senate, there have been very few people I have worked more closely with than Jeff Sessions. He is someone who stands up and fights for conservative principles. He fights for Alabama. He fights for the rule of law.”

“You know, when Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid and a bunch of establishment Republicans were pushing amnesty in 2013 – a massive amnesty program – I was proud to stand and lead the fight to stop that amnesty program in Congress, standing shoulder to shoulder with Jeff Sessions.”
