Los Angeles County is reporting its lowest number of new cases of the Chinese coronavirus since March 26.

On Monday, Los Angeles County saw its lowest number of daily coronavirus cases since March 26, as there had been only 239 new cases since the previous day, according to a report by Fox 11 Los Angeles.

The total number of new cases of the Wuhan virus in LA county is now at 9,420. The county’s health department also reported that its mortality rate is currently at 3.4 percent.

The report added that Los Angeles County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer mentioned that the numbers reported on Monday could be lower due to the limited testing conducted over the weekend, but she nonetheless said that the lower numbers are a “good thing.”

Ferrer added that the lower number of new cases doesn’t mean that residents of L.A. County should stop taking the necessary precautions to prevent the further proliferation of the Chinese coronavirus in their communities.

The public health director suggested that people try to avoid leaving their homes entirely for the next few weeks, as the Wuhan virus is expected to continue plaguing the United States.

“If you have enough supplies in your home, this would be the week to skip shopping altogether,” said Ferrer.

Ferrer also clarified that those who have tested positive for the coronavirus, those who have symptoms, and those who are waiting for test results need to self-isolate for seven days, reported Fox 11 Los Angeles.

The report added that L.A. County health officials are advising that residents arrange to have items such as groceries or medications delivered to their doors instead of leaving their homes to buy the products themselves.

Last week, L.A. County extended its “safer-at-home” order until May 15 and is now mandating that all residents wear a face covering when entering an essential business, as well as requiring employees of essential businesses to wear face coverings if their work involves interacting with people.
