U.S. Border Patrol agents found two deceased illegal aliens on ranches in Brooks County, Texas, on Thursday. A Justice of the Peace pronounced them dead after agents found them in the sand located about 80 miles north of the Texas border with Mexico. Officials transported the bodies to the Webb County Coroner’s Office.

The dead bodies of 53 illegal immigrants have been found in one Texas county after crossing the border this year. The remains of the 53, mostly Mexican and Central American nationals, represent an increase over 2015 numbers despite an effort by local, state, and federal law enforcement officials.

Spanish Language Facebook Page Alerts Illegal Aliens to Police Checkpoints

A Spanish-speaking Facebook group is being used to alert 29,753 members of law enforcement checkpoints. Posts on the page claims it is alerting those “who don’t have a driver license and [to] report accidents” but it could also be used to avoid law enforcement for any criminal activity, including human, drug, and sex trafficking.

Crossing our southwest border from Mexico into the US is no easy task. It is also all to often a deadly proposition; if your coyote (human smuggler) doesn’t kill you or leave you for dead, the brutal desert environment will. As the number of illegal immigrant bodies discovered in Texas has grown, so has the concern of civic groups who want to help prevent these deaths.

Border Patrol Agents Rescue Pregnant Woman and 36 Immigrants 80 Miles from Texas Border

Border Patrol agents operating in Brooks County (Falfurrias) rescued a pregnant woman and a man who were lost in the brush. In a separate incident, agents at the Falfurrias checkpoint rescued 36 undocumented aliens who were being smuggled in a refrigerated trailer. The discovery of the shivering immigrants was made after a Border Patrol K-9 alerted agents.

Honduran Woman near Death Rescued by Texas State Guard near Border

A Honduran woman was rescued from an almost certain death by members of the Texas State Guard. The guardsmen were on a special mission to assist the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office in Falfurrias, Texas to help find the bodies of illegal immigrants who have died crossing the ranch fields in an attempt to bypass the U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoint located south of the town. During the operation the guardsmen encountered two illegal immigrants who advised them of a woman who was left behind and was near death.

Texas State Guard to Begin Search and Rescue for Illegal Immigrants

Texas Rangers and members of the Texas State Guard are beginning or are about to begin an effort in Brooks County near Falfurrias to help stop the climbing number of deaths related to human smuggling operations. Ranchers in the area reported a community partnership meeting where they were briefed on the proposed activities. This year, fifty-two people have been found dead in the arid ranch lands of Brooks County having gotten lost while attempting to bypass the Border Patrol checkpoint located thirteen miles south of Falfurrias.
