Planned Parenthood ‘Violated Law’, Says Texas

The State of Texas gave Planned Parenthood the boot on Tuesday saying it would no longer allow it to participate in the Medicaid program in the Lone Star State. The agency supervising the program ripped the abortion provider for its stated violations of state and federal law and ethics, including deviating from acceptable medical standards and procedures to procure research samples, and stated “a willingness to charge more than the costs incurred for procuring fetal tissue.”

Texas Moves to Stop Future ‘Faithless Electors’

Texas leaders are moving quickly to prevent a repeat of Monday’s vote by two “faithless electors” who broke their vow to cast a ballot for the winner of the presidential vote in the Lone Star State. Bills have been filed in both houses for the upcoming legislative session creating penalties for electors who do not honor their pledge. Governor Greg Abbott has promised to sign the bill if it reaches his desk.

Texas House Speaker: No Sanctuary Cities in Texas

The Speaker of the Texas House is joining with Governor Greg Abbott and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick in calling for an end to Sanctuary Cities in the Lone Star State.

“Speaker Straus will work with fellow House Members, Governor Abbott and law enforcement to ensure that there are no sanctuary cities in Texas,” said Jason Embry, communications director for Speaker Straus, in an email to Breitbart Texas.

Coyotes Eat Corpse of Dead Migrant in Texas, Remains ‘Scattered’

The flood of illegal immigrants crossing the border in the Rio Grande Valley are making their way northward to Texas’ poorest county – overwhelming the county’s law enforcement resources. Even with additional resources from the State of Texas and U.S. Border Patrol, the remains of at least 54 illegal immigrants who died while being smuggled around the Border Patrol checkpoint have been found in 2016.

Texas State Police Tapped to Help CPS Locate 2,800 Children

Members of the Texas Senate Finance Committee were incensed to hear on Wednesday that over 2,800 at-risk children have still not been seen by CPS after citizen reports of abuse or neglect. Senator John Wittmire immediately tapped the Texas Department of Public Safety to address this emergency. Of these 2,800 children, 511 are classified in the “priority one” category.

Texas Teacher Sexual Misconduct Cases Hit All-Time High

For the eighth consecutive year, Texas educator-student sexual misconduct cases soared, hitting an all time high of 222 investigations opened by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in the 2015-16 school year. Texas to Obama: Certify that Refugees Do ‘Not Pose a Security Threat’

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission put the Obama Administration on notice with regard to requirements that must be met before Syrian refugees are resettled in the Lone Star State. This includes the prerequisite that the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement certify that “each refugee does not pose a security threat” to people of Texas.

Texas AG OK’s Prayer in Court Over Atheist Group’s Objections

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has issued an opinion stating it does not violate the Establishment Clause to open a court session with the statement “God save the State of Texas and this Honorable Court” or to open court with a prayer, or have a volunteer chaplain program to facilitate those prayers. An atheist group from Wisconsin had complained about the practice.

Ted Cruz Takes Massive Hit in Latest Texas Favorability Poll

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has taken a massive hit in a new favorability poll among likely Texas voters. More than 60 percent of those polled said they had an unfavorable opinion of the freshman senator. The poll also shows the incumbent senator in a statistical tie in a hypothetical race against Democrat U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro.
