L.A. Homeless Population Grew During Pandemic, but at Slower Pace

The homeless population in Los Angeles County grew 4.1% over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, reaching 69,144 people, according to statistics released Thursday by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). The City of Los Angeles also saw an increase, albeit a smaller one of 1.7%, bringing the total to 41,980 homeless people.

Maher: View That ‘Everything Is Positive’ Fuels Terrible Policy on Homelessness, Drugs in Major Cities, We’re ‘Losing Civilization’

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher stated that part of the problem with drugs and homelessness in various major cities is a policy approach that “Nothing is better than anything else” and that “everything is positive. Everything is not positive. You should be ashamed that you’re using, that might get you to stop.”
