Whoever wins the White House in 2016 will have the pleasure of dealing with an ObamaCare crisis that The Hill describes as an impending “meltdown,” although we already had a perfectly good name for it: the ObamaCare Death Spiral.
Soaring costs prompted Aetna to cancel its plans to expand into more states, and the company is “undertaking a complete valuation of future participation in our current 15-state footprint,” as CEO Mark Bertolini put it.

ObamaCare has taken another step towards towards its own end — the Associated Press informs us “the lone health insurance cooperative to make money last year on the Affordable Care Act’s public insurance exchanges is now losing millions and suspending individual enrollment for 2016.”
When America’s largest insurance provider, UnitedHealth Group, announced disastrous losses due to ObamaCare and started talking about exiting from the program last week, I wondered if they, along with other companies grumbling about ObamaCare red ink, might be looking for a bailout.
Not a single promise has been kept, health insurance is objectively worse than it was before Barack Obama got his hands on it, and enrollment is only half what we were promised. The last detail is key, because low enrollment means everything bad about ObamaCare is going to get much worse in the years ahead, if we don’t kill it now.
