Progressives are denouncing a draft border-protection plan that would keep Central American adult migrants in border detention with their children for 20 days after they cross the border. 

Democratic legislators have drafted a bill to preserve the cartel-operated smuggling route used to deliver 180,000 Central American children and working-age youths to their illegal-immigrant parents and employers in the United States.

Illegal-immigrant parents are increasingly reluctant to pick up their smuggled “Unaccompanied Alien Children” from agency shelters, forcing officials to transfer many stranded youths to a new overflow shelter in Texas.

Federal agents have repatriated 90 percent of the Mexicans and 45 percent of the Central American adults who created the border crisis of 2014, but only a tiny share of the 2014 “Unaccompanied Alien Children,” according to September 2017 data reported by the Department of Homeland Security.

The ACLU has admitted that migrant parents in the “family separation” furor are deliberately leaving at least 114 children in the United States, says a court filing by the federal government.

President Donald Trump’s deputies are shrinking federal cooperation with the smuggling networks which transport Central American children and youths to their illegal-immigrant parents in the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents have apprehended 41,000 children without parents or guardians at the southern border.

Nearly all of the Central American migrant children and youths who cross the border are being delivered by federal agencies to close relatives living illegally in the United States, an agency official admitted to Senators on August 16.

Officials at the Department of Health and Human Services are visiting four military bases to see if they can be used to house young migrants while their parents’ deportation and asylum cases are processed, according to The Hill.
