Appearing Friday on Fox News Channel’s Outnumbered, Fox Business Network anchor Dagen McDowell blasted President Donald Trump’s recent critiques of the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

“I will sit here and say that this attack on Senator McCain ― given the fact he’s dead and his family’s in mourning ― is petty, it’s mean, and it’s appalling,” McDowell said of the president’s remarks.

The Fox Business Network anchor’s comments came in response to the president’s interview with Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo in which he called McCain’s vote against repealing Obamacare “horrible.”

“It was horrible what [McCain] did with repeal and replace,” President Trump told Bartiromo.

“I’m not a fan of John McCain and that’s fine,” he said, before adding that he rarely discusses the late lawmaker unless “you people [in the press] bring it up.”

Over the weekend, the president renewed his criticism of McCain over his role in giving the anti-Trump Steele dossier to the FBI. “So it was indeed (just proven in court papers) “last in his class” (Annapolis) John McCain that sent the Fake Dossier to the FBI and Media hoping to have it printed BEFORE the Election. He & the Dems, working together, failed (as usual). Even the Fake News refused this garbage!” he tweeted Saturday evening.

In response, McCain’s daughter, Meghan McCain, said that no one will ever love the president in the same way her late father was loved.
