A man in Washington State is in the hospital recovering from stab wounds after his girlfriend stabbed him with a samurai sword in a fit of jealous rage, police said.

Emily Javier, 30, allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Alex Lovell, 29, as part of a plot to kill him after she discovered that he had installed the Tinder dating app on his phone a week ago, KPTV reported.

Investigators say the situation escalated when Lovell came home Friday night and ignored her.

According to police, once Lovell fell asleep, Javier began swinging the weapon and eventually stabbed him.

“Whatever that guy was into, doesn’t deserve getting knifed basically. Even if he was doing her wrong,” neighbor Jay Meltesen told KPTV.

Court documents state that Javier placed the 911 call herself at 2 a.m. Saturday and told authorities she thought she fatally stabbed her boyfriend with a sword, KCPQ reported.

Police say they found blood spattered on the walls and Lovell bleeding out in the bedroom. Lovell was rushed to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators report that they seized the samurai sword and several knives at the crime scene.

Authorities arrested Javier and booked her on attempted murder charges at the Clark County Jail. She is being held on $350,000 bail and is due back in court March 13 for an arraignment hearing, the Columbian reported.

Police say they suspect Javier’s motivation for stabbing Lovell was jealousy.

“I was trying to kill him for cheating. That was my purpose,” she allegedly told Camas police.
