A Georgia man allegedly attacked another man with a machete at a gas station on Saturday for reportedly pulling into a gas station too slow, according to a cellphone video of the incident.
The alleged attacker, Dave Anthony Williams, of Marietta, had been upset with victim Joshua Evans because he was being too careful behind the wheel while pulling into a Texaco gas station after waiting briefly behind a red light, WSB-TV reported.
Both men then crossed paths with each other and started yelling at each other. Evans said things got physical when Williams charged at him and he had to punch Williams in self-defense.
“I hear a lady like, ‘He has a machete. He has a machete.’ So I’m trying run from him,” Evans said.
According to the video, the attack ended when the victim’s girlfriend jumped on Williams’ back to fend him off.
“It didn’t look like he wanted to kill him,” said the person who filmed the attack video, who did not want to be identified. “But it did look like he wanted to hurt him bad.”
The victim managed to escape from the alleged attack with minor injuries, with cuts to his finger, back, and wrist.
“Stitches on this finger. Stitches on my wrist. He caught me in the back,” he said. “Anything could’ve happened to me. I could’ve lost my life over that.”
Williams was arrested and booked into the Cobb County Jail, where he faces charges of aggravated assault with intent to murder. He remains in jail without bond, according to jail records obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
