An alleged armed carjacker was shot dead on Tuesday by a hearing aid store manager in Sun City Center, Florida.

FOX 13 reports that the carjacking suspect allegedly tried to take four different cars, but the drivers of each car had their doors locked. He then changed his approach and allegedly tried to get into businesses in the Sun City Center shopping plaza.

Store owners and managers locked their doors or held them firmly so the suspect could not make entry.

The suspect ended up going around behind the Audibel Hearing Center, where he was confronted by the store’s manager, then shot and fatally wounded.

WFLA reports that the suspect had “an extensive criminal history involving narcotics.”

The Tampa Bay Times quotes Mike Wheeler, owner of Audibel Hearing Center, who commented on his manager killing the suspect, saying, “From what I understand, there was a gun in his face … and he chose to be the shooter and not the shootee.”
