Mexican health officials revealed that the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) has infected a total of 405 individuals and killed five. As the virus spreads, they are asking people to stay indoors.

The new information was shared during a streamed news conference where Undersecretary of Health Hugo Lopez Gatell and his staff pushed for citizens to stay indoors and to keep a safe distance. During his speech, Lopez Gatell asked the public to protect the elderly and sick by trying to remain at home.

Health officials revealed that in addition to the 405 confirmed cases, they had 1,219 undergoing further testing. As part of the new statistics, authorities revealed that five patients are now dead.

The fifth fatality comes one day after the World Health Organization labeled Mexico for local transmissions.

Health officials claim Mexico is ahead of the curve in comparison to other countries.

Mexico’s federal government has been harshly criticized amid President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s asking people to continue dining out and visiting local hotspots. Lopez Obrador is still attending mass gatherings where he hugs supporters and kisses their children.
