Planned Parenthood: Sex Education Law Inviting Greater Parental Scrutiny ‘Dangerous’

Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii spokeswoman Jessica Cier said the sex education legislation — which is becoming law without Gov. Bill Walker’s signature — is a “crushing blow for comprehensive and medically accurate sexual health education” because it will invite considerable scrutiny of the curriculum by parents and local boards of education.

GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski: I’m ‘Supporter of Planned Parenthood’

Sen. Lisa Murkowski is one of four Republican senators whose votes will be key in the defunding of Planned Parenthood that is included in the House budget package. The measure is expected to be voted on under the rules of reconciliation, a budgetary process whereby no filibuster in the Senate is permitted, but Republicans will need the required 51 votes to approve the package.
