Houston area shelters filled to capacity as hundreds of thousands of people flee catastrophic flood waters in the ongoing tragedy of now-Tropical Storm Harvey. Floods that have claimed the lives of up to 14 people continue and concerns shift from flooded roadways to overflowing rivers, creeks, and bayous. President Donald Trump is slated to visit the areas of the Texas Coastal Bend that are starting to recover from the destruction of Category 4 Hurricane Harvey that marched in five days ago.

*** LIVE WIRE *** ‘Harvey’ Moves ENE in Gulf, Up to 15 Dead, More Rain Coming

Tropical Storm Harvey continues to move away from the middle Texas coast but continues to dump torrential rains in southeast Texas. As many as 15 people are feared to be dead — nine officially. Rain predictions by the National Hurricane Center call for up to 50 inches of total rainfall in the Houston area and parts east. The storm is moving northeast, toward the Texas/Louisiana border.

Texans are facing what may become the worst flooding event in the state’s history as Tropical Storm Harvey continues to dump record levels of rainfall on the central and upper Gulf Coast region. Houston emergency management officials have run out of boats and other rescue equipment used to respond to people trapped in their flooded homes. Houston 911 officials are adding additional staff to handle the overwhelming number of calls being received.
