Deported Criminal Aliens Continue to Exploit Unsecured U.S. Border Areas

Border Patrol agents along the U.S. southwest border with Mexico continue to arrest previously deported criminal aliens who exploit weaknesses in barrier technology to re-enter the country. Those criminal aliens include child sex offenders, violent criminals, and members of transnational criminal gangs.

Human Smugglers Busted After Driving Through California Border

El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a pair of human smugglers after they drove through a remote border area in southern California. The smugglers allegedly drove two vehicles through the international boundary west of the Calexico Port of Entry.

Deported Sex Offenders Continue to Exploit Incomplete Border Walls

Sex offenders previously removed from the country by immigration officers continue to exploit outdated or incomplete border walls to regain entry into the U.S. El Centro Border Patrol Sector agents apprehended eight such offenders this fiscal year who illegally crossed into Southern California.

MS-13 Member Says He Traveled with Migrant Caravan to California

Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector in California arrested an MS-13 member who claimed he traveled through Mexico with a migrant caravan. The agents made the arrest after he illegally crossed the border from Mexico into California.

Illegal aliens assaulted three El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents in separated incidents over a five-day period. The agents did not sustain major injuries during the attacks.

Human Smugglers Arrested at California Checkpoints Increase This Year by 200%

El Centro Sector Border Patrol officials report a more than 200 percent increase in the number of human smuggling cases from immigration inspections at checkpoints in Southern California this fiscal year. The number of migrants arrested during these inspections also rose by more than 200 percent.

Border Patrol Busts 200 in Anti-Human Smuggling Operation

A human smuggling interdiction operation carried out by Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents landed more than 200 illegal immigrants and smugglers in jail. The agents carried out the three-week “Operation Sandman” in the Imperial Sand Dunes west of Yuma, Arizona.
