Senators Look to Beef Up Visa Waiver Program Security

A bipartisan group of senators has introduced legislation that would impose additional requirements on the Visa Waiver Program – which allows citizens of participating countries to travel to the U.S. for 90 days or less without a visa — as a means of helping to prevent terrorists from entering the U.S.

Residents in the sleepy suburb of Chartres expressed shock that Omar Ismail Mostefai, a former neighbor who would go on to be identified as a suicide bomber in the Paris massacre last Friday, was their neighbor. “This place has nothing to do with those banlieue in Paris,” one neighbor said, alluding to the dangerous urban areas of the capital known as a breeding ground for violent Muslim youth.
