Liberty University: Zero Coronavirus Cases After Much-Criticized March Reopening

Liberty University announced this week that it had zero Chinese virus cases on campus during the spring semester. The university was criticized by mainstream media outlets over its decision to reopen the campus open in March at the outset of the outbreak. University President Jerry Falwell Jr. wrote in a letter to students, ““We are thankful to God that nobody who lived in a campus residence hall or who worked in a campus office tested positive for the virus.”

Liberty U. Presses Charges Against Journalists for Trespassing on Campus

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. announced this week that the university is bringing criminal trespassing charges against two journalists that traveled to campus to report on its decision to remain open during the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. Falwell told the press that he made the decision to bring charges against the journalists over concerns that they could have spread the Chinese virus to students.

Liberty University Reopens Campus Out of ‘Responsibility to Our Students’

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr., announced this week that he is encouraging students to return to the college’s Lynchburg, Virginia, campus despite ongoing concern over the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. Falwell stated, “I think we have a responsibility to our students — who paid to be here, who want to be here, who love it here — to give them the ability to be with their friends, to continue their studies, enjoy the room and board they’ve already paid for and to not interrupt their college life.”

Charlie Kirk Launches ‘Falkirk’ Think Tank with Jerry Falwell Jr.

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr. have announced that they are launching a think tank called the Falkirk Center for Faith and Liberty. Kirk said that the new center will “proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ, as articulated in the gospel, and the intersection of the gospel with American founding freedoms and founding liberty.”
