The BET Awards kicked off Sunday night with an extended, star-studded rendition of Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power,” one of a slew of tributes to the Black Lives Matter movement that dominated the annual awards show that honors black achievement in entertainment and sports.

Public Enemy Fires Flavor Flav over Bernie Sanders Rally

Hip-hop group Public Enemy announced on Sunday that after 35 years of service, they would be permanently “moving forward” without rapper Flavor Flav following his decision to send a cease-and-desist letter to presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders over fellow rapper Chuck D’s concert at a Sanders campaign’s rally in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Crosshairs at Bernie Sanders Rally in L.A. Featuring Public Enemy

LOS ANGELES, California — The crosshairs logo of the celebrated rap group Public Enemy was worn by several fans of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) at a large rally Sunday evening ahead of Super Tuesday — though Sanders once attacked former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for using crosshairs in an advertisement targeting congressional districts.
