Hartford police officer shot
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A police officer has been shot and wounded while on duty in Hartford.

WTIC-TV says the officer was shot more than once and was hospitalized in stable condition.
Sgt. Dennis O'Connor at Hartford police headquarters told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that the officer was shot early Wednesday, but he declined to provide any other details.
Police Chief Daryl Roberts was quoted by WTIC-TV as saying that the shooting occurred as the officer investigated a rash of burglaries in the north end of Hartford.
