REPORTS: Mexican Cartels Use Chemical Weapons on Rivals, Civilians in Escalating Turf War

One of Mexico’s most violent drug cartels reportedly turned to the use of chemical weapons in their ongoing struggle with rival criminal organizations. This region in Western Mexico is experiencing an escalating spike in violence where cartels have been manufacturing explosive devices, weaponized drones, armored vehicles, and mortars. At the same time, government officials help one faction or another for profit instead of bringing peace to the region.

Mexico State Governor Threatened in Cartel Banners

The governor of the State of Mexico became the latest target of cartel threats in makeshift banners just weeks after assuming office. The threats come as cartel violence and influence continue to spread to once-peaceful areas of Mexico while politicians push empty claims that the country is safer.

Ten Cartel Gunmen Killed, 4 Cops Injured in Mexico During Border State Shootout

Ten cartel gunmen died, and four police officers sustained various injuries during a shootout in Mexico on a highway that connects the border city of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, with the Monterrey, Nuevo León, metropolitan area. Nuevo Laredo is tightly controlled by the Cartel del Noreste faction of Los Zetas — one of the most ruthless criminal organizations in Mexico which is responsible for thousands of kidnappings, murders, and forced disappearances.

Sicarios del cártel en Michoacán incendiaron tres bares y cuatro tiendas mientras organizaciones criminales luchan por el derecho a extorsionar a los negocios locales. Major Sheriff’s Associations Call for ‘Eradication’ of Mexican Drug Cartels 

The largest sheriff’s associations in the country called for the eradication of Mexican drug cartels and for the public to pressure their elected officials to do something about it. The groups called for action to start against the two most powerful criminal organizations in Mexico. The call for action by the sheriffs comes follows 21 state attorneys general called for cartels to be designated as terrorist organizations.
