NEW YORK, March 21 (UPI) --
A Wisconsin company has created a set of gun paints named for New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who previously banned the products from the city.
Lauer Custom Weaponry created the "Bloomberg Collection EZ Camo Kit," a gun customization kit that includes colors named for New York's five boroughs and a stencil to create an image of the mayor's face on the barrel of the gun, the New York Daily News reported Friday.
The kit retails for $129.
Bloomberg successfully pushed in 2006 to have gun paints banned from the city. He contended the products disguise guns as toys and described them as "a tragedy in the making."
"Making a quick buck by coloring a handgun to look like a toy is craven and beneath any honest businessman," Bloomberg said. "By coloring these guns, a real one looks like a toy, and a police officer won't be able to tell the difference."
