Report: State AGs Investigate Instagram’s Impact on Children

According to the Wall Street Journal, the psychological effects of Facebook-owned platform Instagram on young children are being investigated by a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general. Nebraska’s Republican Attorney General Doug Peterson stated: “When social media platforms treat our children as mere commodities to manipulate for longer screen time engagement and data extraction, it becomes imperative for state attorneys general to engage our investigative authority under our consumer protection laws.”

ProtonMail CEO: Mark Zuckerberg’s ‘Metaverse’ Is Still All About Sucking Up Your Personal Data

Andy Yen, the CEO and founder of the encrypted email service ProtonMail recently warned against the privacy issues relating to Mark Zuckerberg’s digital “metaverse.” Yen didn’t hold back, saying: “Facebook talks about privacy because it’s a PR issue for them. At the end of the day, their business model revolves on taking your data and monetizing it. So there is fundamentally always going to be a conflict between what they say and what they actually have to do to make money.”

Bouncer and Banhammer: Facebook’s Internal Terms for Censoring Users Exposed

As further internal Facebook documents leak, internal company code words and terms used to refer to users and issues have been revealed. Some of the 35 internal terms revealed relate specifically to censoring and punishing users, such as “bouncer,” which is an internal tool used by the company’s “integrity team” to crack down on pages or lists of users.

Former Google boss Eric Schmidt claimed in a recent interview that tech giant Facebook “knew what it was doing,” by prioritizing profit over user health. According to Schmidt, who oversaw the growth of Google into a notoriously monopolistic giant intent on controlling the internet and censoring speech, Faceook “went a little too far on the revenue side and not enough on the judgment side.”

Zuckerberg Mentor Roger McNamee Calls for Criminal Probe of Facebook

At this year’s Web Summit conference, early Facebook investor and mentor to Mark Zuckerberg, Roger McNamee, called for a criminal probe into Facebook. One of McNamee’s six proposed criminal investigations of Mark Zuckerberg’s company is that the company “allowed human trafficking on its platform and was ‘paid to enable it to happen.'”
