Facebook Blames Catastrophic Outage on ‘Configuration Changes’

Facebook services have come back online following an outage lasting about seven hours, the longest downtime that the site has seen since 2008. The catastrophic outage also impacted the company’s Instagram and WhatsApp platforms, bringing the Masters of the Universe to a grinding halt for most of Monday. The company has blamed “configuration changes” for bringing its entire empire to its knees.

John Stossel Sues Facebook Alleging Defamation over ‘Fact-Check’ Label

Former TV journalist John Stossel has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Facebook seeking at least $2 million in damages, alleging that the company defamed him by adding “fact-check” labels to two videos he posted related to climate change. After Facebook’s labels, the lawsuit claims “his viewership plummeted due to both Facebook’s censorship and the reputational harm caused by the false labels.”

Report: Amazon Plans to Censor More Sites from Cloud Hosting

Reuters reports that tech and e-commerce giant Amazon plans to take a more active approach to censoring what it considers rule violating content from its cloud hosting service. Websites and apps that rely on Amazon hosting will be forced to find another host or disappear from the internet. Amazon currently holds 40 percent of the cloud hosting market.

Rand Paul Blasts YouTube for Censorship of His Coronavirus Remarks

YouTube has issued the account of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), a licensed doctor, with a one-week suspension for discussing the coronavirus pandemic and the United States’ response to it. Paul blasted the company in a company, saying: “YouTube now thinks they are smart enough and godly enough that they can oversee speech, even constitutionally protected speech.”

Twitter has once again suspended Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from its platform, this time hitting her with a one-week ban for coronavirus “misinformation.” Twitter has repeatedly censored Greene and appears to be headed towards a permanent blacklisting of her account.
