Mexican President Pushes Changes to Constitution to Protect Cartels from U.S. Government

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum filed a controversial series of changes to the country’s constitution that would essentially block any investigation or action by foreign law enforcement agencies without their permission. The provisions could enable Mexico to criminally pursue anyone involved in those investigations. The changes come after the United States designated six Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and announced the intent to eradicate them.

Former Mexican Governor Sends Letter to Trump Over Alleged Cartel Connections of Mexico’s New Consul in Miami

A former Mexican governor sent a series of letters to U.S. President Donald J. Trump, warning him about the alleged cartel connections of Mexico’s new consul in Miami. In the letters, the politician warned Trump to have the U.S. Department of State and the National Security Council properly check the proposed diplomat due to his questionable background.

BORDER TOWN USA: Mexican Cartel-Connected Drug Trafficking Ring Busted in Oklahoma

BORDER TOWN, USA — Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control (OBN) officials announced the arrest of 16 people for their alleged roles in a Mexican cartel-connected drug trafficking organization. Investigators said the local residents purchased fentanyl directly from “cartels out of Mexico.” The state did not specify which cartel was involved.

A Texas National Guard soldier shot and wounded a suspected cartel operative in Mexico while witnessing a violent assault on a group of migrants preparing to cross the border into the United States, according to sources within the Texas government. The Guardsman reportedly observed the man armed with a pistol and a machete beating a migrant on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande near El Paso.

Major Sheriff’s Associations Call for ‘Eradication’ of Mexican Drug Cartels 

The largest sheriff’s associations in the country called for the eradication of Mexican drug cartels and for the public to pressure their elected officials to do something about it. The groups called for action to start against the two most powerful criminal organizations in Mexico. The call for action by the sheriffs comes follows 21 state attorneys general called for cartels to be designated as terrorist organizations.

Drug Cartels Utilize Makeshift Ferry to ‘Float-Over’ Drugs from Mexico to Texas

Drug cartels operating in Mexico frequently employ creative means to smuggle narcotics across the border into the United States. One such method, unique to Texas’ Rio Grande Valley, is referred to by Border Patrol agents as a “Float-Over.”  The technique involves using a makeshift ferry to move an SUV or pick-up truck, pre-loaded with narcotics, across the Rio Grande River.
