Robert E. Lee Elementary to Be Renamed over Public Objections

Eleven months after California Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) pressured the San Diego Unified School District to change the name of San Diego’s Robert E. Lee Elementary, school officials are pushing forward with the change, and despite calls from the public to keep the name.

West Texas Town Defends ‘Devil Doll’ Teacher after ‘Mistake’

NEW HOME, Texas — Residents of a small West Texas town rallied to support a third-grade teacher whose job is on the line after some parents complained when she showed her students a short video about a doll that is rumored to have evil powers and then reportedly warned the children not to tell their parents about what she showed them. On Monday night, the school board debated whether to renew her contract but a decision has not yet been reached.

Measles Strikes Infant, Shutting Down Santa Monica Day Care

A new case of measles caused the shutdown of a Santa Monica High School day care center Monday after one of its infant attendees was diagnosed the disease. The current outbreak began in California’s Disneyland theme park with 74 of the 107 recent cases linked to the Magic Kingdom point of origin.
