Season's 1st frost, ice observed in wide area of Japan+

TOKYO, Nov. 22 (AP) - (Kyodo)—The first frost and ice of the season were observed Sunday in a wide area of Japan as cool and moist air seeped through the Pacific coast of the country's eastern to western regions.

The temperature in Tokyo is forecast to reach only 10 C during the day, about the usual high for early January in the capital, but return Monday, a national holiday, to the normal range, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The season's first frost was seen in Sendai in northeastern Japan, Maebashi, the Sea of Japan city of Wajima in Ishikawa Prefecture, Kyoto and Matsue in western Japan, while ice was observed in Sendai, Maebashi and Matsue, the agency said.
