Texas Border Sheriff Calls for Multi-State Response to Migrant Crisis

Kinney County, Texas, Sheriff Brad Coe issued a plea for other law enforcement agencies to help with the continued flow of migrants through his county. The sheriff sent a letter to fellow sheriffs in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas asking for available resources to be sent immediately to Kinney County.

Suspected Migrant Escapes Texas Police by Stealing Road Roller near Border

A suspected migrant was spotted on a ranch game camera using a stolen, single drum road roller to leave the border area. The construction vehicle was stolen from a privately owned ranch near Brackettville, Texas, on Monday. According to Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe, the suspected migrant used the vehicle to cross several ranches, causing extensive property damage until running out of gas.

EAGLE PASS, Texas — Despite the anticipated drop in temperatures along vast stretches of the Texas border, large migrant groups continued to cross the Rio Grande hoping to gain release into the United States. On Friday morning, Border Patrol agents rapidly worked locally to move the migrants out of the freezing elements to processing facilities.

A single group consisting of more than 700 migrants crossed the Rio Grande into Eagle Pass, Texas, and quickly surrendered to authorities. The group of mostly Cuban migrants entered the United States shortly before dawn on Thursday and were arrested by Border Patrol agents just north of the city. According to a source within CBP, the group is the largest single group of migrants to surrender at Eagle Pass.
