Host Japan failed to make an impact at Ginga Arena Ice Rink in Kanagawa Prefecture, with Daisuke Uemura and Marie Yoshida managing only fifth place in the men's and women's 1,500, respectively, for its best showing.

South Korea's Lee Seung Jae won the men's 500 and Song Myong Ho raced to victory in the 1,500.

The women's 500-meter title went to Fan Kexin and the 1,500 crown to Li Wenwen.
