The “assault weapons” ban legislation that passed the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday not only prohibits AR-15s and AK-47s, but numerous semiautomatic pistols and shotguns as well.

During Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) claimed that a stabilizing brace turns an AR-pistol into an “automatic weapon.”

House Judiciary Committee Democrats aligned and voted unanimously to pass an “assault weapons” ban on Wednesday while committee Republicans all voted against the measure.
