Nine Migrants Rescued from Texas Border River

Border Patrol agents assigned to the Texas-Mexico border region rescued nine migrant family members in two incidents from possibly drowning while illegally crossing the border from Mexico. The incidents occurred in the El Paso and Del Rio Sectors.

Contracts Awarded for 65 Miles of New Texas Border Walls

Federal officials announced the awarding of approximately 65 miles of new walls along the Texas Border. Officials reported the new wall is not funded under President Donald Trump’s National Emergency Declaration or any other Department of Defense funding.

Deported Sex Offender Busted After Illegal Re-Entry

El Paso Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a previously deported child sex offender after he illegally re-entered the U.S. in far West Texas. The man now faces 48 years in prison for an early release violation and federal prosecution for illegal re-entry after removal as a sex offender. The man’s victim was under the age of 13, officials stated.

Three More Migrant Bodies Found near Texas Border

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents discovered the bodies of three deceased migrants over the past weekend who apparently attempted to or illegally crossed the border. Two were found in the Rio Grande and a third on a ranch in Kenedy County — about 60 miles inland.

Three Texas Men Charged in Migrant-Smuggling Vehicle Crashes

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas charged three Laredo men with allegedly crashing their vehicles while smuggling migrants to avoid arrest. Officials report a total of 29 migrants smuggled in the three pursuits which resulted in serious crashes.

Four Migrants’ Bodies Found in Texas near Border

Officials in Texas report that four more migrants died recently after being abandoned by human smugglers on ranches near the Mexican border. At least 155 migrants have been found dead while or shortly after crossing the border from Mexico into Texas in 2019.

Contract Awarded for New 11-Mile Border Wall in South Texas

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials awarded an $80 million contract last week for the construction of 11 miles of new border wall. The project, scheduled to start in September 2019, will build new barriers and security roads in the Rio Grande Valley Sector where none exists today.
