The passenger bus plunged 40 meters below a hilly road in the Nawalparasi district 150 kilometers southwest of Kathmandu on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the deaths and injuries to seven people, Superintendent of Police Krishna Gautam, the district's police chief, said.

"Six injured passengers have been taken to a hospital," Gautam told Kyodo News by phone.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.
