Tokyo to bid for 2020 Summer Olympics: Gov. Ishihara+
TOKYO, Nov. 9 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Tokyo will bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, Gov. Shintaro Ishihara said Monday.
The Japanese capital has just lost to Rio de Janeiro to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Ishihara's remarks came after the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, hit by atomic bombs during World War II, said last month they will seek to jointly host the 2020 summer games, though the Olympic Charter states only one city can host the Olympics.
