House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R – CA) is the only Republican on the Committee who has not signed on to become a co-sponsor a resolution that would create a select committee to investigate the attack against the U.S. compound and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya.
Twenty-four Republican members serve on Foreign Affairs. The resolution, authored by Rep. Frank Wolf (R – VA), currently has 184 Republican co-sponsors.
A Committee spokesperson responded to the issue in an e-mail to Breitbart News on Monday:
“Foreign Affairs Committee staff has just issued a critical Benghazi report. The Chairman believes the several committees looking at the Benghazi tragedy, including Foreign Affairs and Chairman Issa’s Oversight and Government Reform Committee, are hammering the Administration on its unaccountability and leadership failures.”
The Foreign Affairs Committee released a report last Friday relating to the administration’s efforts to dodge accountability following attack in Benghazi. However, the report only reestablished previously reported information, specifically points from January’s Senate Select Intelligence Committee report about the attack.
House Speaker John Boehner (R – OH) refuses to appoint a select committee to investigate the terrorist attack that killed four Americans. Additionally, other House Republican chairmen side with Boehner on the issue as opposed to the majority of GOP members on their own committees.
