True to Form, Moore Seems to Have Exaggerated for Effect

Feb 26, 2013 3:22 PM PT

In response to Huffpo: Ben Smith, BuzzFeed 'Government-Subservient' Stenographers:

BuzzFeed definitely made some mistakes but Glenn Greenwald's outrage seems a bit over the top (as usual). Even Huff Post is backing off the outrage a bit:

UPDATE: BuzzFeed wrote a second story on Tuesday, this time quoting five LAX officials and saying that the logs from the airport showed that Burnat was detained for 23 minutes. The story still differs widely from Moore and Burnat's account of the detention. [Emphasis mine]

Huffpo: Ben Smith, BuzzFeed 'Government-Subservient' Stenographers

Feb 26, 2013 2:26 PM PT

The Huffington Post and the Guardian's Glenn Greenwald got together to absolutely blister Ben Smith (watch the video here) and BuzzFeed for doing what Smith has done ever since Obama became president: become the government's Chief Palace Guard.

ABC Gives Michelle Obama a Helpful Edit

Feb 26, 2013 10:05 AM PT

Charlie Spiering at the Examiner finds ABC has edited an interview with Michelle Obama to remove a portion where she misspoke about a recent shooting in Chicago. Here's what Mrs. Obama said on Good Morning America according to a story published on ABC's website:

And she was caught in the line of fire because some kids had some automatic weapons they didn’t need,” she said. “I just don’t want to keep disappointing our kids in this country. I want them to know that we put them first.

In response to Christiane Amanapour Tweets "Happy Birthday, Mr. President"... to Robert Mugabe :

It's starkly amazing to watch Amanpour dash off mash notes to Mugabe, but I don't know how well-hidden the general leftist fascination with dictatorship ever was.  From the cults of the Soviet Union, Che and Castro, to the Strange New Respect some liberals were willing to show Bush enemy Saddam Hussein, their growing tendency to express admiration for communist China, and even the budding romance between liberals and Islamists, this stuff has always been there.  And it always gets personal, particularly when the dictator has an outsized personality.  How many nauseating media encomiums to the wisdom and towering intellect of Fidel Castro have we been forced to endure?

BuzzFeed Politics Takes Two More Credibility Hits Today

Feb 20, 2013 1:57 PM PT

At the exact same time BuzzFeed Politics' Andrew Kaczynski was puffing himself as The Arbiter Of Journalistic Ethics with some new rules about how it's now wrong to write stories based on what you’re told by unnamed sources, he was busted cold engaging in a deceit that apparently included editing a post without acknowledging the edit.

As Michelle Malkin's fabulous Twitchy notes, in the past, Kaczynski has criticized others for not noting editing changes. Previously, Twitchy has caught Kaczynski memory-holing mistakes, most memorably after he was duped by ridiculous Hurricane Sandy photos.
